Screenwriter

As a screenwriter I tend to lean heavily into uplifting, feel-good comedies with strong female leads over the age of 50.

However, I have written, and continue to write, in multiple genres across multiple types of media.

All of my produced work has screened at multiple film festivals around the world. My short film “Yes, Who, I Love You Too” won the award for Best Comedy Film at the Austin Micro Film Festival and "I'm Sending Help Now" won the Audience Choice Award for Best Comedy Short at the Vero Beach Film Festival.

My half-hour comedy pilot “Selling Our Soles” (under the title BOGOHO) was a semi-finalist in the Creative Screenwriting TV Pilot Screenplay Competition and a finalist in the Stage 32 Female-Driven Screenwriting Contest and has received interest from producers.

Title: I’m Sending Help Now

Genre: Comedy

Format: Short Film

Logline: When a recent retiree can’t remember the safe word after accidentally setting off his home alarm system, the situation is made worse by his frantic Golden Retriever and an overzealous alarm company dispatcher.

Notes: Made its world premiere at the Sedona International Film Festival, the film has screened at multiple film festivals.

Title: Yes, Who, I Love You Too

Genre: Comedy

Logline: In the employee break room of A&C Sporting Goods, Heather enlists the help of her co-worker Stephanie in preparing for Music Trivia Night at her local bar. Misunderstandings between the Millennial and the Gen Xer as they discuss songs and artists from the 70's and 80's lead to hilarious confusion and frustration in this homage to Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First." 

Notes: This film screened at multiple film festivals and won the award for Best Comedy Film at the Austin Micro Film Festival.

Title: Open & Shut

Genre: Rom-com

Format: Short film

Logline: A romantically gun-shy woman resents the appearance of a man at her girls’ night book club. When it becomes clear that her friends are trying to set them up, she digs in her heels, until she discovers they have more in common than she originally thought.

Notes: This film, co-written with Michael Beardsley, was written and produced as part of the Easter Seals Disability Film Challenge.

Title: Super Inappropriate

Genre: Comedy

Format: Short Film

Logline: A misfit group of self-serving superheroes attend court mandated group therapy after misusing their superpowers for petty personal gain and learn what it means to be a real superhero.

Notes: This film, co-written with Michael Beardsley and Dawn Grabowski, was written and produced as part of the Easter Seals Disability Film Challenge.

Title: 2 Cars/1 Parking Space

Genre: Drama

Format: Short film

Logline: When a multi-tasking mother is involved in a parking lot fender bender, she is too distracted by the fact that she can’t get ahold of her teenage daughter to recognize that the other driver’s magnanimity is an effort to hide a dark secret.

Notes: This film, which looks at the hard reality of missing the signs of an abduction, screened at multiple film festivals.

Logline: Two long-time frenemies have competed for respect, wealth, and status for years, but when a personal slight can’t be forgiven, it results in tragedy for both men in this modern-day retelling of the Alexander Hamilton/Aaron Burr duel.

Title: Cocktails on the Cote d’Azur

Logline:  While on an exclusive luxury cruise, a bubbly, unsophisticated gal awkwardly attempts to forge a friendship with a wealthy, elitist woman in order to overcome the loneliness caused by the recent death of her husband.

Title: Dying Breath

Genre: Drama

Logline: When a hard-working, self-sacrificing farmer at the end of his difficult life is given the opportunity to live his life over, there are serious repercussions, not only for him but for generations of his family.

Title: Hour of Rebellion

Genre: Sci-fi

Logline: In a futuristic society where every individual's actions are monitored and recorded, a group of teenagers finds a glitch in the system that allows them to run rampant for an hour each night. Law enforcement authorities must resort to outdated methods of investigation and interrogation to track down and stop the rebel group before they can carry out their plans to take down the entire system one hour at a time.

Logline: When a hen-pecked romance novelist unwittingly finds himself involved in a bank robbery, the lives of his loved ones are put at risk by the real robbers who want their money back.

Title: Selling Our Soles

Genre: Half-hour, single camera workplace comedy

Logline: An optimist, a corporate yes-man, a poor little rich girl, an uber-competitive college student, a cynical retired teacher, and a ladies’ man with a foot fetish cope with the ups and downs of work and life together despite the fact that the only thing they have in common is that they work in the same women’s shoe store.

Title: Operation EX

Co-written with: Jennifer Lynn O’Hara

Genre: One hour dramedy

Logline: After learning about her husband’s affair, an insecure housewife teams up with her husband’s cocksure mistress and ball-busting ex-wife to form an organization to help other women who are being victimized by the men in their lives. While investigating their clients’ cases, they put their lives on the line to bring down a human trafficking kingpin whose operations hit a little too close to home.
